Caring for your Workers Crossing Borders - Netherlands

This publication is intended to guide companies with international ambitions. Experts from AWVN and International SOS Foundation outline some of the concepts of Duty of Care and the legal environment. Besides three Dutch companies, Pon Equipment & Pon Power, Royal HaskoningDHV and Tata Steel ex-plain what Duty of Care means to them and how they have implemented a program to fulfil their Duty of Care as an employer.

Organisations can no longer limit themselves to their own national borders. Today, it is not the domestic, but the world the frame of reference. Organisations must constantly ask themselves whether they are still doing the right doing and adapting and innovating to remain competitive. An organisation that wants to optimise its development and growth must dare to look across borders and have an eye to the global dimensions of doing business. Doing business across borders also implies employees moving internationally. More than that, mobility is crucial to achieve strategic business goals and to attract and retain top talent.
