Emma Lindsay, HSEQ Manager, Europe at ChampionX, winner of the 2021 Award for Duty of Care Ambassador, oversaw the development and implementation of a highly successful response to COVID-19.
ChampionX is a global leader in chemistry programmes and services, drilling technology, artificial lift solutions, and automation solutions for the oil and gas industry. It has wide-ranging operations, including manufacturing sites, on-site lab work, an office-based workforce and rotational workers at offshore sites. This diverse range of activities meant a blanket approach could not be taken to dealing with COVID-19.
So, in early 2020, a Business Continuity Team was formed to respond to COVID in Europe. In the 14 months following the implementation of the plan, ChampionX had zero coronavirus-related outbreaks across its three sites (including two manufacturing sites). It was able to maintain continuity of operations and there were no disruptions to day-today relations and business activity with clients.
